Founded in 2003 in Cleveland, Ohio, as a mortgage broker, CrossCountry Mortgage has since realized its founder’s vision and become a nationwide full-service lender. Executive Vice President Joe Macchione leads a regional sales and operations team of nearly 200 that has been based in Conshohocken since 2013.

Approaching the expiration of their 22,497-square-foot lease in the Conshohocken Ridge Corporate Center, CrossCountry Mortgage was in the market for less square footage when they hired Gola to exclusively represent their interests. A strategic market search located space in a building adjacent to their old one in the same corporate park. Signed in April 2020, the new long-term contract enabled the company to right-size to 9,205 square feet.

Although construction activities were being adversely impacted by COVID-19, Gola’s project management team sprang into action. CrossCountry Mortgage’s space plan prior to the pandemic had been traditional, with assigned offices and workstations. However, with no way of knowing if or when things would return to normal, we helped the company pivot their furniture plan to accommodate a work-from-home model with more open space.

Among the changes were taller workstation panels, spacing to create wider aisles, and orienting desks in one direction to minimize face to face contact. Out of concern for health and safety, all furniture components were cleaned and sanitized. As a result, the hybrid office environment safely accommodates a less structured employee presence.

Despite mandated work shutdowns and stringent safety protocols after the construction re-start, Gola kept the project moving and on track. After providing project management services inclusive of construction management and procurement of voice/data vendors and furniture contractors, we also coordinated the company’s move in November 2020.
